

Bonnie Jean "BJ" (Averill) Brown, 67, passed peacefully at home on July 6, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 9th, 1943 in Boston, Mass. She graduated from Lowell Trade School in 1961. She participated in ice speed skating, softball, bowling and shot darts. She loved all sports and was a loyal Washington Redskins Fan.
She enlisted in the Navy in 1962 and was proud to have served her country. She later served Northside School District for 22 years as a Bus Driver and Teachers Assistant. She was a member of the American Legion, Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation, and South Texas Trail Riders. She also was a very active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She held many offices in the Auxillary at the local and district level to include President and was a member of the Past Presidents Club. Attending Cowboy Church brought her joy and spiritual guidance. She enjoyed helping others and supporting charities.
She was blessed with a loving spouse, 1 Daughter, 2 Sons, 4 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and extended family and friends. BJ was extremely loved and will be greatly missed by many.
Graveside services will be held at 1:45 pm on Friday, July 15, 2011 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
