

Bruce was born to Robert and Marilyn Thomas on June 18, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, and received a BA from Michigan State University in 1976.
Bruce is survived by his sister Carol Holden, brothers David Brewster and Paul (Nancy) Brewster, and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marilyn Thomas, stepmother Peggy Lanspeary Thomas, brother David Thomas, and sister Susan (Ken) Brinich.
Bruce enlisted and served with honor in the U.S. Army from 1967-1970, receiving a commendation for his service in Viet Nam.
His lengthy career in management consulting was based in the Washington D.C. area. He retired to San Antonio in 2016 and has found his time here to be the most satisfying and rewarding time of his life. Now 46 years sober, he has devoted his life to sharing his experience, strength and hope with others so that they may also achieve sobriety.
A memorial service for Bruce will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A reception will follow at Sunset Funeral Home. Following the reception will be a committal service from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages a loving donation to the charity of your choice.
