

Candace grew up in Houston, Texas as the sixth of seven children. Her family and friends lovingly referred to her as “Candy.” She loved listening to music, especially country western and appreciated any type of live music. She enjoyed going on long bike rides in the parks of San Antonio. Bike riding became a passion for her in the last several years. Other hobbies included walking, hiking, and spending time with her family. Candy was a very kind person who loved her family and friends very much. She was very loyal to those she loved, and she was a great listener. She loved her faith; it was her strength. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas for 23 years. She was a self-employed certified clinical electrologist for 19 years, helping people with unwanted hair removal. Candy embodied boundless generosity, love, and kindness as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her legacy will live on through her family for generations to come.
Candy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Winifred A. and James F. Delaney, Sr., her brother James F. Delaney, Jr., her Great Aunt Anna Shanahan, and her nephew Sean Mendoza. She is survived by her husband of 38 years Barry Jackson, her children Kevin Jackson and wife Ashley, her daughter Megan Jackson Licari and husband Andrew, her beautiful granddaughter Hailey Elizabeth Jackson, her siblings Mary Mendoza, Brian Delaney and wife Shawna, John Delaney and wife Barbara, Joanne Delaney and Charles Lantrip, Patrick Delaney and many nieces and nephews.
Candy’s family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated medical team at MD Anderson and Suncrest Hospice, extending appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and all the staff involved in her care. Her family is also thankful for the unwavering support and prayers of those who have kept her in their thoughts and prayers over the past four years.
Services will be held at 9:30am on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023 at St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church, 1602 Thousand Oaks Dr., San Antonio, Texas 78232. A reception is to follow at St. Mark. After the reception, interment will occur at 12:15pm at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests with gratitude that contributions in Candace Delaney Jackson’s memory be directed to St. Mark Catholic Church, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Pancreatic Cancer Research, or a charity of your choice.
