Carl Jerome Parrish

Carl Jerome Parrish, age 69, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born September 23, 1953 to Luebirta Guinn and Willie Lee Parrish Sr. in Memphis, Tennessee. Carl graduated from Southside High School in Memphis, Tennessee in 1971 and went on to obtain his Bachelor’s degree from Christian Brothers University, class of 1975. He later attended Law School at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Carl began working for Allstate in 1978 as a claims associate and was later promoted to claims manager prior to his retirement in 2013.

Carl will be fondly remembered for his sarcastic humor. He enjoyed travelling with his wife, especially to Mexico, but also travelled all across the United States for work. He was passionate about spending time with his family and friends. His golf buddies will especially miss spending time with him on the green. They had an opportunity to golf at Pebble Beach in Carmel, California last summer which was at the top of Carl’s bucket list.

He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Gerald Lynell Parrish. Carl is survived by his wife of 36 years, Wendy Parrish; father, Willie Parrish Sr.; siblings, Tora Parrish, Mary Jeffers, Willie Parrish Jr., Maxine Jeffers, Alfred Parrish and wife Moniqua, Tantilier Smith and husband Donald, Hannah Jeffers, Betsy Price and husband Mickey, Nathan Jeffers, Carlos Bee and Catina Parrish; aunts Freddie Mae Davis and Kathy Guinn; uncle, Jimmy Guinn; brother-from-another-mother, Ronald Clark and wife Kathi; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, God-children, cousins, and a lifetime of friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Porter Loring Mortuary North on Sunday, April 2, 2023 beginning at 2:00 PM.

Carl will be laid to rest in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee at a later date.
