

He was born to Carlos Bazán, Sr. and Dolores Canales Bazán in Laredo, Texas on Jan. 24, 1922.
He served in the US Army in Europe during WWII after which he returned to continue his studies at UT Austin, where he met and married the love of his life, Evangelina Ximenez. He then entered University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, graduating in May of 1951.
The family eventually settled in San Antonio in 1964, where he then practiced radiology for 30 years.
He always valued and encouraged education, he loved animals and appreciated music, but foremost in his life was his family.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Evangelina Ximenez Bazán; son, Carlos III and wife, Martha; daughter, Margot Bazán Rodriguez and husband, Richard; daughter, Belinda Bazán-Lara and husband, Joe; daughter, Evangelina Bazán X. and dear friend Susan Klein; son, Fernando Bazán and wife, Mary; granddaughters, Sara, Claire, Rebecca, Lauren, Anna, Angela, Iliana and Vanessa. He is also survived by his loving sister, Rafaela Canales de Bazán in Mexico, as well as his niece, Gabriela; nephew Pepe; niece Alejandra; niece, Marcela and their children, his great-nieces and nephews, also in Mexico. His beloved kitties, Xochitl and Christina mourn his passing.
The family thanks his many physicians, especially Dr. Arturo Homma, Dr. Paul Garcia, as well as the staff at Methodist Transplant and Specialty Hospital.
