Carmen Alvarado

Carmen Ventura Alvarado, born on July 7, 1929, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025. Carmen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her.

A loving and nurturing soul, Carmen found joy in cooking meals for her family and tending to her beautiful garden. Her hands were never idle, always preparing a dish to share or planting flowers to brighten her home. Above all, she carried a prayer in her heart for those she loved, offering comfort and guidance with her unwavering faith.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gilbert Alvarado; her parents, Bonifacio and Maria de Jesus Ventura; her brothers, Guadalupe, Vicente, and Crispolo (Kipo); and her sisters, Antonia (Toni) and Basiliza (Wera).

Carmen’s legacy lives on through her loving children: Patricia Ybarra (Joe), Alex Alvarado, Charlie Alvarado, and Valerie Botello Deleon (Mark). She is also survived by her devoted daughters-in-law, Jo Ann Gonzales and Margarita Soto. Her grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly, include Alexander Alvarado (Michaela), Anthony Alvarado, Christina Saenz, Adam Alvarado (Michelle), Dorothy Hemphill (Steve), Mark Anthony Deleon, and Alyssa DeLeon. She was blessed with great-grandchildren Cynthia Alvarado, Hunner Alvarado, Harper Alvarado, Gynna Villarreal, Alias Saenz, and Adele Hemphill, each holding a special place in her heart.

Carmen will also be deeply missed by her sisters, Sarah and Felipa; her brother Mario as well as her close friends Hope and Pete Rodriguez and Ray Mendez, along with many other cherished family members and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and grace.

Her memory will live on through the love she shared and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.

A visitation for Carmen will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237. A rosary will occur Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 7:00 PM, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237. A funeral mass will occur Friday, April 11, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 1204 Castroville Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237. An interment will occur Friday, April 11, 2025 at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237.
