Carmen Talavera Lopes

Carmen Talavera Lopes, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on September 7, 1927 in El Paso, Texas, to her parents, Guadalupe and Josefa Monsivas Talavera. Carmen proudly served in the United Air Force, where she met her husband Rudy. They were happily married for sixty-eight years.

Her life was dedicated in service to our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church, sharing her Christian faith, missionary work, pastoring, and inspiring her community where all things , Carmen held very dear to her heart, and was along time member of Iglesia Bautista Sur San Antonio Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolfo Lopes; son, Rudy Lopes II; grandson, Robert Balderrama; brothers, Alfredo, Robert, Salvador, and Alonso Talavera; and sisters, Elivira and Hortencia Talavera. Carmen is survived by her daughter, Mary Garcia (Tim); grandsons, Rudy Lopes III, Cody Garcia (Milania), and Timothy Garcia (Yvette); granddaughter, Rhonda Garcia (Robert); daughter-in-law, Alma Lopes; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Cameron, Sirena, and Monica Balderrama, Brittany Balliger, Caleb Garcia, Nathan Benavidez, Abigail Garcia, Lliana Garcia, Timothy, Manuel, and Jeremiah Garcia; great-great-grandchildren, Landon and Legend Smith, Elliana Balderrama, Colton and Elaina Balliger; as well as many nieces and nephews.
