

Rev. Catarina "Cathy" E. Perez-Scrivner, a beloved and faithful soul, passed away on November 1, 2025, at the age of 77. A resident of Bulverde, Texas, Catarina was known for her servant's heart, love for Jesus, and love for other people.
Born on December 16, 1947, Catarina pursued her education at Western Evangelical Seminary in Portland, Oregon. Her career was marked by a deep commitment to both the medical field and ministry. Before entering the ministry, she worked in bacteriology at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, and later supervised the phlebotomy lab at Portland Adventist Hospital.
Catarina began her ministry in August 1981 and was ordained in July 1986 at Campmeeting in Brooks, Oregon through the Church of God in Anderson, Indiana. Catarina served on the National Board of Church Extension for six years under the Church of God in Anderson, Indiana and served as President for the Portland area Pastors' Association for several years in Portland, Oregon. She pastored the Spanish-speaking church, Ministerio Latino Iglesia de Dios, in Portland for over 25 years and retired from her pastoral duties in 2008. After returning to Texas in 2008, she continued her ministry with weekly spanish bible studies, up until her passing.
Catarina is preceded in death and meets in Heaven her parents, Jesus and Manuela Rodriguez Perez, as well as two brothers and one sister. Catarina leaves behind to cherish her memory: her loving husband of over 57 years, Merle W. Scrivner; her two children, Marcos W.T. and wife Amanda Scriver, and Monica I.M. and husband Brandon Gleason; eight grandchildren; and five siblings on Catarina's side, and eleven siblings on Merle’s side.
Catarina's legacy is one of service and dedication, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Catarina's Life will be held at Sunset North Funeral Home, located at 910 N Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, Texas, 78232. The service is scheduled for December 6, 2025, starting at 7:00 pm.
