Celia M. Saldaña went to her eternal home with the Lord on Christmas Eve of 2014. Celia was a lifelong resident of the South San Antonio community, where she attended high school and worked at the Saldaña family grocery store on New Laredo Highway. Celia gave back to her beloved community by volunteering at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she served as CCD teacher, Eucharistic minister, funeral rosary minister, Comunidades worker, and SINE evangelist. She also volunteered as a driver for Casa Del Sol Adult Day Care, whose clients loved riding home with her because she treated them to Dairy Queen ice cream cones.
Celia was welcomed into her eternal home by her parents, Justo and Felicitas Saldaña, and her brothers and sister: Margarito, Clemente, Maximino, Justo, Ricardo, Meliton, Juan, Celedino and Lydia. She is survived by her youngest sister, Mary Ann Saldaña, who lovingly provided her care and comfort in her later years through multiple health issues. She will be remembered lovingly by her sister, nieces, nephews and family friends.
The rosary will be held Monday, December 29th, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at Treviño Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road. Mass will be held Tuesday, December 30th at 9:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
