

Chaplain Willie P. Peacock was born July 29, 1941, in Sneads, Florida to Susie and Robert Peacock. He is the second son in a family of eight children. He is preceded by his parents and his brother, Ladon Peacock. Chaplain Peacock graduated from Greenwood High School in 1960. He attended college for one year and then joined the United States Air Force in 1961. He completed his duty in the Air Force in 1965, then he returned to college and completed his Bachelor's degree in Social Work at Florida State University. He went on to receive a Master of Theology degree from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Later he received a Master of Science in Education from the University of Southern California and a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Psychotherapy from the American Institute of Family Relations. He is a graduate of four quarters of Clinical Pastoral Education. Chaplain Peacock was ordained a Christian minister in 1970 and served as a pastor and associate pastor since retiring from the Army as a chaplain. He loved what he did for 30 years.
Chaplain Peacock's military duty has taken him to Turkey, the Philippines, South Korea, and Germany as well as posts in North Carolina, New York, Kansas, Texas, and California. He served at all levels in the United States Army from battalion to Army Command Chaplain. He spent a tour of duty with the 82nd Airborne Division and a tour of duty in Germany with Special Forces. He was the Sixth Army Chaplain, Presidio of San Francisco, California, and the Division Chaplain for the 2nd Armor Division. He also served at all levels as a prison chaplain at Ft. Riley, Kansas and served as the Command Chaplain for the Military District of Washington, D.C. He is also a graduate of the Army's Command and General Staff College.
After retirement from the Army in 1999 at Brooke Army Medical Center, Chaplain Peacock became the Associate Pastor for Pastoral Care, Central Christian Church, Downtown San Antonio. Later, he served as the Associate Area Minister for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in South Texas. He also spent time at Air Force Village II as one of their pastors and a year as an interim pastor at Rolling Oaks Christian church in San Antonio.
Chaplain Peacock is married to the former Sue Daniels from Sneads, Florida. They have two lovely daughters, Kimberly Peacock Cerda and her husband, Sgt Major Hector R. Cerda, USMC, ret and Wendy Peacock; and four super grandchildren, Zachary McConnell, Nicholas McConnell, Ally Grace McConnell, and John Paul Peacock. He is also survived by four sisters and two brothers, and of course his faithful companion, Parker the Shih Tzu, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will miss him dearly. Sue is a Family Life Educator and has worked for the Navy and the Army dealing with family life issues. Sue has been his greatest supporter and constant companion. Chaplain and Mrs. Peacock have had 56 wonderful years together. They were blessed to serve some of America's finest young people and never thought they would end up in San Antonio where Chaplain Peacock came for Air Force basic training in 1961. God has truly blessed them.
