

He was born August 23, 1918, in Henderson, Texas, to Lillian Bailey and Charles W. Gray, Sr.
Charles graduated from Henderson High School, Kilgore Jr. College and the University of Texas in Austin receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
He proudly served during WWII as a pilot in the Army Air Corps, then as a 1st Lt in the Air Force Reserves.
Charles worked with Tips Iron and Steel in Austin and was a charter member of the Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church. He retired to Bastrop, Texas and then became a member of Bastrop's First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Arnette Gray Gregory.
Charles is survived by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Betty Hampton Gray; children, Elizabeth Ann Gray Willmann and husband, Kenneth E. Willmann, William Hampton Gray and wife, Kimberley Oberbacher Gray, Sarah Michelle Gray Llewellyn; grandchildren, Amy Willmann Satcher and husband, Daryl, Gregory E. Willmann and wife, Marina, Kurt R. and Melinda A. Willmann, Charles M. Llewellyn; great-grandson, Eric W. Satcher; siblings, Jack Gray, Delbert Gray, Jane Gray Bloomquist and Jean Gray Nelson; numerous nieces and nephews.
