Veldon was a loving father, husband, son, brother, grandfather and friend to all.
Veldon served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Army retiring after 22 years with a rank of (E-8) MSgt. He was a hard worker all of his life vowing to support his family, starting at the age of 6 years old picking cotton with his father, mother and siblings in northeast Louisiana, to spending time in the oil fields of west Texas as a young man until being drafted into the U.S. Army at the age of 25. Upon retirement from the U.S. Army he worked another 10 years for U-Haul finally retiring as President over the repair facility in Houston. Veldon enjoyed working on the few acres that he and his wife owned near Crockett, TX., clearing the land, building a home, a pond, and raising a few livestock. Ultimately due to illness, he and his wife sold the property and relocated to a home in San Antonio to be near his daughter and family along with addressing health issues at the nearby US military hospitals.
Veldon never met a stranger and was always there to lend a quick hand helping family and friends when the need arose.
