'Charlie was a great friend to our family. My father William McBirnie was his football coach at S.W.H.S. He stayed in touch with our family and was always considered a great family friend. Charlie was very generous and always allowed us to fish his creek and ponds. We were able to return the favor with trips to our ranch for turkey hunting. I am so very sad to learn of his passing. 

He will be greatly missed and I am very blessed to have known him. My sincerest condolences to his family.'
