

Charles “Charlie” Herman Pettibon, age 87, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 14th, 2024. Born in La Feria, Texas, to Chester and Mary Pettibon, Charlie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Charlie was preceded in death by his youngest son, Paul Pettibon. He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline Pettibon, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his children: Laurie Zimmerman (Brian), Chuck Pettibon (Mitzi), and Lou Ann Johnson (Bryan), along with his cherished grandchildren: Ben Zimmerman (Samantha), Kaitlyn Akright (David), Brooke McMullan (Ryan), Shelby Zimmerman (Thomas Nehring), Matthew Pettibon (Olivia), Blake Zimmerman, Parker Johnson, and Jack Johnson. His great-grandchildren include Isla Mae Zimmerman, Halle Zimmerman, Cora Zimmerman, Preston Akright, and Grayson Akright.
Charlie was preceded in death by his brothers Maurice Pettibon, James Pettibon, Richard Pettibon and his sister Nancy Bippert. He is survived by his sisters Dorothy Kwapich and Mary Kay Hill (Marion), his brother Joseph Pettibon (Margie), sister-in-law Mary Elizabeth Pettibon, brother-in-law John Bippert, sister-in-law Dorothy Ahr (Pat), and many dear friends and extended family members.
He regularly attended St. Padre Pio Catholic Church. He spent 21 years teaching at Roosevelt High School, where he was an educator who helped many students with their career aspirations. Outside of his career, Charlie loved helping his friends and family with "handyman" projects, always eager to lend a hand and share his skills.
Charlie was known for his kindness and dedication to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gerald Sioco, Dr. Juan Carlos Garza, and their colleagues, for their dedicated and loving care, especially for the last ten years.
Visitation will be held at Poring Loring North, 2102 N Loop 1604 E, on Sunday, December 22nd, at 6:00 p.m., with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass and burial service will follow on Monday, December 23rd, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Padro Pio, 3843 Bulverde Parkway, and Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Road.
