Father Pugh was my Priest and teacher at St Patricks Catholic School, in the early 80's. He was very easy going, and was never strict with any of the students. Father Pugh will be missed.

I was 14 years old when I met Fr. Pugh in Nixon. This was a very difficult time for me and my family. Several years earlier our mother had died and our dad abandoned us. My younger brothers and I were being raised by our grandmother. We called her Guela Wella, short for abuela, so did Father. Two older siblings had been sent to live with other relatives. Fr. Pugh was so full of love for us and we for him my brothers still think he hung the moon!. When Guela died, I was working in San Antonio and my brothers were still in high school in Nixon. Fr. Pugh shared with me that Guela had gone to see him the day she made the final mortgage payment. He said that she was very excited and had told him she could die in peace because, "mis hijos tiene donde vivir" "my kids have a place to live". He shared this with such pride in his voice you'd have thought he had made the payment himself! The last time I saw Fr. Pugh was where I had met him, at the rectory in Nixon. I was showing my husband and kids where I had grown up and, naturally I had to show them the center of my life as a child, so we drove by the parish. Everyone was busy preparing for the annual "jamica" so we stopped by the rectory. Father answered the door and immediately recognized me; I got the usual bear hug. I introduced him to my family and the first childhood story he shared was the one about Guela coming to see him after making the final payment on our house. When my sister called to tell me Father had died, I felt such a loss. I haven't seen him in over 20 years and still, my heart hurts. I know you will hear this over and over again but, I must say it, this world was a better place because Fr. Pugh was in it. I now have one more angel watching over me and heaven is now even more heavenly because he's there. All my love and prayers to you for sharing Fr. Pugh with me and my family. MY SINCERE SYMPATHIES TO THE FAMILY, I KNEW FATHER PUGH WHEN I WAS GOING TO HIGH SCHOOL IN THE 70'S. HE WAS OUR FAVORITE PRIEST AND A VERY GOOD MAN. I KNOW THAT HE IS IN A VERY GOOD PLACE NOW. WE WILL MISS HIM.

To the family of Msgr. Pugh - Please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss. My computer consulting firm had many dealings with Msgr. Pugh over the years. He used technology, not only to help the parish office run more efficiently, but also as a tool for involving the youth in whatever parish he was serving. He was a very generous and genuine man, and the world is a better place because of him.

To someone who showed me what believing 
in Jesus meant.Now I show my children the meaning of God .In May of this 
year I will see my oldest grandson make 
his first communion.Thank You Father

My sincere condolences to the Pugh family. I never met father Pugh but I do remember when he became a priest. I remember when his mom, my 5th grade teacher at that time Mrs. Grace Pugh went to the Vatican. How proud she was, she would often give the class updates on him. For that very same reason he was a special priest to me. May he rest in peace.
