James Connor Day has gone to meet Jesus. Connor passed away Wednesday night (June 12, 2013) as a result of a single car accident. He had just celebrated his eighteenth birthday on May 29, 2013. He was on the way home from work to spend the night at a friend's house when he lost control of his car.
Connor attended San Antonio Christian School from kindergarten through eighth grade. Connor made the most of the terrific sports program at SACS. He played football starting in third grade and ran track and pole vaulted as well. It takes guts to throw yourself through the air, but it fit Connor perfectly because he threw himself into life in all ways. One of Connor's favorite memories from SACS was when his Dad had the starring role in the elementary school Thanksgiving celebration. His Dad was the turkey, and each class had to try to find and tag him.
Connor never met a stranger. Everyone loved him. He made many, many friends at SACS and he kept them after he moved to Smithson Valley High. He hit the big pond and made quite a splash. He continued his love of football in the early part of high school and then stopped to focus on other passions. Without the time commitment of two-a-days and games, Connor got to devote himself to the family's ranch in Loma Vista. Connor was becoming a man, spending hours and hours with his Dad working cattle and building fences. Connor began to bring friends to the ranch more and moreand it made him the see the place differently. Through the eyes of friends, he grew even more proud of his family ranch.
He hunted with his Dad and sisters every chance he got, and loved going fishing with his Uncle Gary and spending time with his cousins. Connor lived big. Connor was very active and well known in his church and youth group, and he lived his faith every day.
A year and a half ago, Kendall Byers came into Connor's life. She and Connor shared a very special bond, and as you'd expect, the Byers family came to love him. Everyone loved him.
Connor loved his family. He is survived by his parents, Pamela Day and James Richard Day, Jr.; his three sisters, Brittany, Christin, and Allison; his grandmother, Margaret Day; his Aunt Pammy and Uncle Gary, and cousins, Kelsi and Ashley Weimer; and his Aunt Pat and cousins, Zachary and Connor Heard.
A memorial service celebrating Connor's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013, at Community Bible Church Bulverde, 7100 HWY 281 North, Spring Branch, TX 78070. As an alternative to flowers, a donation to the St. Jude's Ranch for Children in Bulverde, Texas,http://stjudesranch.org, for which Connor had a passion, would be appreciated.
