Constance Ann Schmidt

Preceded in death by her mother and father, Matilda Rivas Velarde and Eduardo P. Velarde; sisters, Beatrice Bardwell, Emma Contie, Adelina Velarde; spouse, Herbert Emil Schmidt; children, Yvonne Barloco, Herbert Emil Schmidt, Jr. Survived by her children, Bridget Ann Schmidt, Kathleen Marie Schmidt of San Antonio, Richard Thomas Schmidt and wife, Susan of Missouri City, TX, Martin Edward Schmidt and wife, Kathy of Plano, TX, daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Schmidt of Metairie, LA. She had 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, and more to come.

After graduating from High School in 1934 from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, she married and had 6 children who were the joy of her life. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to raising her family and her love of her faith in the Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Canary Islanders and a member of the Altar Society of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

The family would like to thank Dr. Margaret Finley, Vitas Hospice and Morningside Manor Unit 6 staff for their tender care of our mother. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
