

A native of San Antonio, Crystal attended Woodstone Elementary, Wood Middle School, and Madison High School where she was part of the Madison Avenue Singers.
After graduating from San Angelo State University, she returned to Wood Middle School, taught two years, and led their choir to Sweepstakes for 2000 and 2001. She also taught in Chugiak and Anchorage, Alaska which led her to Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Under her direction, the choir performed as Honor Choir at the All State Music Festival.
One of two special events for Crystal was performing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra in concert; the other was being accepted to perform all summer with the Opera of the Ozarks.
She was very active at Northeast Church of Christ in Albuquerque, NM. Crystal was a member of the New Mexico Music Educators Association, the American Choral Director's Association, and MENC. She had a tremendous gift for bringing out the best in her students.
She is survived by her husband, Major Gary Troy of Rio Rancho, NM; parents, David and Jodi Christiansen; sister, Brooke Lutz and husband Kenneth and their son Cooper, all of San Antonio; maternal grandparents, DB and Patsy Weatherington of Enville, TN; paternal grandparents, George and Wesa Christiansen of San Antonio, TX; in-laws, Bill and Sandy Troy of Woodland, ME; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and the extended choral family and her students.
