"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7
David was born in Germany in April and, as the son of a military family, traveled throughout the country and around the world during his early years. He spent part of his youth in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he attended Westover High School. He later made his home in San Antonio. David proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a landscaper for many years, taking joy in his work and the beauty he created with his hands.
David was a man of quiet strength and deep kindness. Though soft-spoken, he had many friends and was known for his generous spirit—he would truly give you the shirt off his back. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially bowling and reading. He was a believer in Christ Jesus; his faith was tested, and he kept moving forward.
Today, we celebrate David’s homecoming and the peace he now has in the presence of his Savior.
David was preceded in death by his parents, CW4 (Ret.) Victor Hancock and Mary L. Hancock.
He is survived by his sister, Valerie M. Smith, along with many dear friends who will miss him greatly and carry his memory in their hearts.
Funeral services will be held at (time and date) at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, if you feel led, donations may be made to Christian Aid at www.christianaid.org.
The family of David Hancock wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have shown love, support, and prayers during this time.
