David, or Dave as he was known by to many, was born in Luling, Texas, January 30, 1933 to Louis Ray Pettit and Irene Trench Pettit.
His early years were marked by hardships which eventually led to placement in an orphanage for him and his siblings. Barely a teenager he sought a better life and enlisted in the US Air Force. Shortly after, he met and married the love of it his life Annie Mae Fontenot of Westlake, Louisiana. Not long after the birth of his second son, David was deployed to serve in the Korean War. He continued his time in the service and was once again deployed to serve in the Vietnam war. Upon his return he and his wife laid roots down in San Antonio, Texas and together they raised five children. It was there that he honorably retired from the Air Force.
After retiring from the Air Force, Dave now having been a master plumber for several years, utilized the skills and trade he had learned during his time of service to build a successful plumbing business. In doing so he proudly paved the way for the second and third generations of plumbers within the family. Upon retiring for a second time, he and his wife lived out their life long dream when they bought a fifth wheel and together they enjoyed years of traveling the country in their RV visiting family, making new friends and discovering new wonders.
David F. Pettit cherished his family above all things. He leaves his loved ones with many treasured memories of times spent young and old. His greatest legacy will forever be the love for his family of which he was most proud.
