Our Lord called our Mother, Delia Elma McDermott Sanchez, age 82, to be with Him on Saturday, December 1, 2007. She joins her beloved husband, Gabriel Sanchez; parents John F. McDermott and Virginia Serna McDermott; her brother Carlos T. McDermott; and her sister Celina McDermott Trevino.
She was born in San Diego, Texas on February 27, 1925 and graduated from San Diego High School. In 1948 she moved to San Antonio and lived in Tobin Hill for over 50 years, a neighborhood she dearly loved.
She worked and retired from Kelly Air Force Base in 1975. After retirement, she became a Real Estate Broker and retired again in 1990. She was a devout member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sister, Lilia Thelma McDermott Meier; her sons: Candelario Elizondo III and wife, Terry; Luis Angel Elizondo and wife, Maxine; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 4th from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Porter Loring.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like a donation in her name to be sent to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 3107 N. St. Mary's Street, San Antonio, TX 78212.
