For 50 years, Don was the loving husband of Rita Novak and father of two sons, Gregory and Michael.
Don began his professional carrier in Kansas City, Kansas with First Bank Corp./IDS, progressing eventually to Houston, Texas. Soon Don and his family moved to the Corpus Christi area where he and several partners owned and operated lumber yards, hardware stores and construction companies.
Later, Don took up real estate in San Antonio, where he was currently managing a family owned redevelopment project on one of the largest open land areas in Alamo Heights.
Don was also a great friend and host to his son's, Greg's, law firm, Novak Druce + Quigg, where he was fondly referred to as "the Legend."
As the Legend, Don regularly provided guidance to members of the firm and took special pleasure in bonding with the younger associates, encouraging them both personally and professionally. To the older partners Don provided friendship, as well as acting as a bridge between young and old.
Don's two brothers are Kenneth Novak and Roger Novak. Kenneth predeceased Don, but his wife Dotty and children Susan and Kevin, along with their spouses and children, remained close to Don.
Roger and Kay Novak, together with their sons Jeff and Keith and their families also remained close to Don and his family.
Don's sons, Greg Novak and Michael Novak, together with Michael's wife Julie, son Trevor and daughter Claire remain behind, missing their father and grandfather.
