It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Donna Jean “DJ” Rose, who departed this life on May 21st, 2025, at the age of 73 surrounded by her loved ones. DJ was born on May 26th, 1951, in Council Grove, Kansas and from an early age, she demonstrated a strong sense of justice, compassion and meticulous attention to detail – qualities that would define her life and career. She proudly graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice from Texas A&M University and for 34 years, she served as a paralegal, providing unwavering support and dedication to the legal community. Her professionalism, integrity and tireless work ethic earned her the respect of colleagues, clients and attorneys alike.
Beyond her career, DJ was known for her warmth, generosity and quiet strength. She found joy in taking care of her puppy Molly, delivering homemade baked goodies to neighbors, crafting, shell hunting and reading. Her greatest pride was her family, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally.
She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, David Rose; daughter, Tabitha Daniels; son, Brynt Daniels; stepdaughter, Misty Watkins (Ken); 5 grandchildren; sisters, Helen Olson (Rodger), Jeanne Smith, Dawn Smith, Teresa McDowell, Bari Jean (Maughan) Himelfarb; brothers, Doug Maughan (Suzanne), Donnie Maughan; stepmother, Bonnie Smith Conklin; sister-in-law, Sharon Allen (Tommy); brothers-in-law, Gary Rose (Carol) and Ben Rose (Yolanda); aunt, Marta Clayton (Hal), 16 nieces and nephews, several cousins as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
DJ was preceded in death by her father, Bill Smith; mother, JoAnn (Eastman) Maughan; stepfather, Max Maughan; father and mother-in-law, J.H. Rose, Jr. and Delia (Nell) Rose; brothers, Randy Maughan and Richard Maughan; uncle, Gary Countryman.
Donna leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness and love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service is pending for a later day at Porter Loring Mortuaries North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio 78232.
