Dorothy was a one of a kind dear friend.  We worked on the parsonage, getting it ready for Rev and Mrs Ed Haynes while we were members of Alamo Heights Baptist Church.  We worked in Vacation Bible School together.  She was a dedicated member.  I was blessed with her friendship.  She helped me so much when I lost my husband.  She was away there with great advice and love.  I treasure the friendship we had!  She will be missed!!❤️

My dear sister-in-law Dorothy.  It was impossible to visit her often enough, in San Antonio or a couple times at my home.  She was married to my brother Theodor Adam Hieb. ( "Dock") they were a beautiful couple, he passed in 1985. RIP Dorothy you 2 are now together again. Dorothy had a schedule for herself that kept her going for 102 years,  she dressed up every day, she was someone,  she knew everyone, and was born, raised and lived her entire life in San Antonio. I loved and enjoyed her so very much.  (TED and I had the same Mother,  Viola Christina  Rose , different fathers, but both of us were born in eastern Montana. )

I'm so very sorry to just learn of Dorothy's passing.  I've known Dorothy since I was a child.  Her father and brother worked on the railroad.  My family is railroaders.  I worked a few months with her at the insurance agency, but we kept in touch through various railroad functions and lodges.  A phone call to her was always several hours of chatting and how interesting those chats were.  Her favorite saying was "Don't you know..."  I'll always remember her for her hats and gloves.  A true Lady.  Rest in Peace sweet Dorothy.  

My sweet southern lady, and sister-in-law , always welcoming family into her home. Visiting was precious as she drove us all around San Antonio to show off her City, her life's story since her birth there in January 1919. Rest in Peace Dorothy. 

For many years Dorothy was the wedding consultant at the church. I had the privilege of working with her as the sound technician. When some parent tried commandeering the wedding,  Dorothy would tell them,  "This is for the couple, not you".   She was very exacting in the rehersals and would not let any of the wedding party be sloppy or unfocused. 

With her husband,  Doc, having been a watch and clock repairman, she saw a similar potential and interest in me.  She was the greatest encouragement to me.  She loved my work even though I knew it needed improvement.  Dorothy made me feel as though I could succeed as a clockmaker. 

After Sandy and I left San Antonio, Dorothy and I would talk on the phone twice a year. She was always the greatest encourager. Sandy and I have the fondest memories of Dorothy. We frequently quote the hat lady who said "don't you know" and pursed her lips when she considered it best to say nothing.  

I feel a sense of loss in learning of her passing.  I miss hearing her voice; her words of encouragement and wisdom. I know that she is now with Jesus,  Doc, and other loves in her life.  One day I will delight in hearing her voice again.

Dorothy was a joy to be around. What a spirit of love of life she instilled in us all. She had the sharpest memory of anyone i have ever met. She would remind you of things several years back, even if she had not seen you for awhile. I am so happy I had the privilege of knowing this amazing lady. See you again one day, Dorothy.

Dorothy has always been there for me through thick and thin.  She was not only my mother-in-law, but she has been my friend for 54 years, I consider her one of my best friends.  I could talk to her about anything, and she never judged me, rather she comforted, reassured, and helped me see things through.  She has always been there for me and all my boys regardless of the circumstance.  She embraced my husband, and he also loves her as the great person she was.
Dorothy was a treasure who I loved dearly and truly feel blessed to have been given the pleasure of having her in my life for the past 54 years.
Dorothy has been a constant in the lives of my sons, Ryan, James and Jeremiah and I know they will miss her beyond measure. 
One of my fondest things about Dorothy is what a “Southern” lady she was with her hats, gloves, and panty hose she loved to wear.  And her little saying when something really got on her nerves- “Don’t you know, its just enough to make you want to smoke, drink and have pre-marital sex”!  Or, “Don’t you know darling?”  She was truly a Southern Lady and there are very few like her left in this world.
She lived and loved life to the fullest and was always ready for an adventure or ready to go, whether it was to lunch, dinner, to sit with a sick friend or relative or to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, oh how she loved Mardi Gras! She collected so many Mardi Gras beads one year we almost did not have room in the car ride home for all of them and the luggage.
When I had the opportunity to work in San Antonio, I would stay with Dorothy and in the evening, we would have dinner, wine, and watch Dancing with the Stars. Later we would get on her bed and watch re-runs of Johnny Carson, she loved Johnny Carson and all the old sitcom re-runs.
Our blessed treasured angel has gone to be with her father in her mansion in heaven.  Until we see you again, We Will Miss you Dorothy.


Aunt Dorothy always looked so nice  with her big smile and her stylish outfits.   I talked to her in March/April of this year and she was her chipper self.  She was glad I called and wanted to know everything about what I had been doing since we last talked.  Then she asked about everyone in my family.   We talked about Covid and current events.   I would call her periodically to catch up and see how she was doing.   She always offered advice and encouragement to me and I would hang up feeling so uplifted.     My husband dearly loved her (don't you know!) as did my kids.  Her entire family was blessed to have her in such good health, both physically and mentally, for so long.   She truly was an inspiration.   The picture attached is of Dorothy  and my son Keith in 1984 (wearing one of her awesome hats).  
We will all miss you Aunt Dorothy.

My Mamoo was an incredible Great grandmother. Her and I have so many wonderful memories. One of my favorites is her blessing my husband and I to be married. She attended our wedding looking lavishing as always. We had so much fun. We will love you forever Mamoo!
