One of 10 children, Douglas was preceded in death by his parents David Sr. and Dorothy Poor and brothers, David Jr. (Becky) Poor and Doyle Poor.
Survived by brothers, Donald Poor, Darrell (Yolanda) Poor, Danny (Melissa) Poor, Dean (Debra) Pate, Duane (Scott) Godsey-Poor and sisters, Diane (Tommy) Lobert and Lisa (Lawrence) Barideaux and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Also survived by two very close friends, Claudette and Nanette, four loving and protecting dachshunds, Sissy, Runt, Dwight and Max and one “Special Kid” that gave Douglas new life for the past 11 years, Geronimo Godsey-Poor.
Douglas spent his healthy days caring and sharing time with many nephews and nieces…he was considered the “Go To” Babysitter.
In his younger years it was all about the Beach-BBQ-Beer. As he got older it was playing dominos with his brother-in-law Tommy, Bingo and Lotto.
The family would like to extend a Special “Thank You” to Dr. Jocelyn Theard for 25 years of special care and friendship. Also to close family friends Mike and Diana Jett for always including Douglas on numerous road trips, outings and mischief.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 15th from 6-8 pm at Sunset Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, January 16th at 3:00 pm in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Marilyn Lange will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
