Dr. Inocencio Davila, age 68, a long-time anesthesiologist of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, July 12, 2021 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Inocencio was born on August 4, 1952 in San Antonio, Texas to Inocencio G. Davila and Maria Aranda Davila. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Inocencio (Ino) graduated from Highlands High School in 1971. He then attended San Antonio College and graduated with an Associate of Biology Degree in 1973. In 1975 he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree. He then attended UT Southwestern Medical School and earned his MD degree in 1983. Ino then attended the Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency training in 1986.
Dr. Davila began his anesthesia practice in Beeville, Texas in 1986, following his residency. He was the first anesthesiologist to have a practice in Beeville, Texas. This is where he met the love of his life, Rachel, whom he married on September 23, 1989. In 1990 they moved to San Antonio, Texas where he formed an anesthesia group. He had a very successful anesthesia practice. After 30 years of having the best job he ever imagined (his words) he decided to retire in November 2016, due to his health.
Dr. Davila was member of the Texas Medical Association, Bexar County Medical Society, American Society of Anesthesiologist, and San Antonio Anesthesiologist, as well as many local community associations.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Rachel Dominguez Davila and five sons: Sean Davila, Marcus Davila (Madeline), Nathan Davila (Desiree) of San Antonio, Texas, Larry Garza (Melany) of Pleasanton, Texas, Nicholas Davila (Danyka) of New Braunfels, Texas; four grandchildren: Matthew Davila, Melary Garza, Hayden Davila and Abscyde Davila; four brothers and one sister: Victor Davila (Stephanie), Theresa Martinez (Oscar), Felix Davila (Susie), and Joe Davila (LuAnn); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Inocencio preceded in death by his parents, Inocencio G. and Maria Aranda Davila and his youngest brother, Edward Davila.
Inocencio Davila, the strength of our family, was a strong, loving, caring, nurturing, devoted husband, father and grandfather filled with unconditional love for his family. He was a member of Church Unlimited - Stone Oak. He knew Christ as his savior, he loved the Lord Jesus, and had faith and trust in the Lord. His devotion for his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace; his favorite bible verse: “Be Strong and Courageous; Do not be afraid or discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” Joshua 1:9.
Ino had a passion for baseball; he loved teaching and coaching. He coached his two youngest boys (Sean and Marcus) from the age of four to middle school. He was so proud of them, especially when they both made the high school baseball team. He also enjoyed seeing his older sons, Nathan and Nick, play their favorite sport, soccer. Another proud moment was when his son, Larry, enlisted in the military. He was very proud of all his children; proud as they excelled in school, sports, college and the military. As retirement came along, he was able to spend more time with his grandchildren, Melary (finally a girl in our family) definitely stole his heart, with her “Te Amo Papa” and Matthew always praying for him to get better.
Ino also enjoyed Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts; he was right there with Sean and Marcus. Ino was the Cub Scout Master for many years. He enjoyed teaching kids life skills. On his free time, he enjoyed traveling, fishing, skiing, scuba diving and camping with family and friends. As empty nesters, Ino and Rachel started a hobby of their own and took dancing lessons and enjoyed it. This soon became a Saturday date night routine. Ino became a great leader and it was so easy to follow his Country and Western dancing steps.
Inocencio will be truly missed by his family, friend and colleagues.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 Porter Loring Mortuary.
