Born in Baker, Oregon, on November 6, 1923, John—affectionately known as "Jack"—was the son of John and Annie Claire Ord. He grew up alongside his twin siblings, Bob and Barbara.
General Ord dedicated his life to military service and medicine. A distinguished cardiologist in the United States Air Force, he served with honor in various capacities around the world. His career was marked by excellence, leadership, and a steadfast commitment to those under his care.
Despite his many accomplishments, Jack remained a humble and private man, known for his quiet demeanor and sharp, dry wit. He never sought the spotlight, allowing his actions and integrity to speak for themselves.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra, and his children: John, Teri, Ginny, Cathy, and Julie. Jack and Sandra cherished the life they built together and the joys of their blended family.
Beyond his professional life, Jack had a passion for music, photography, golf, and hiking—especially in the mountains he loved. These pursuits brought him peace and joy, reflecting the richness of a well-lived life.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
