Edith has probably known me just as long as my folks. She and Jack are very old friends of my parents they were stationed together in the military.She has seen me from infancy into motherhood and knew all 3 of my children. The times that I was in her presence I always walked away from our conversation with a new wealth of information. She was a women of great faith and I will catch up with her in heaven. Edith Walker, YOU and husband,Jack, have been beloved friends and FAMILY to these Halls,for more than 40 years.. ever since you moved in next door to us on Graham Rd.at Ft Sam Houston,TX in the early 60s 
You lived there until Jack retired from the Army, and our loving and close rela- 
tionship continued. Our sons Mike and Steve were little tykes and son, Tom, was old enough to mow your lawn each week.We all remember 'Saint' your faithful dog! We watched the parade ground ceremonies together.We watched our daughters, Kathy and Mary Jeanne, ride the horses under Maj McClain's tutelage down the 'parade grounds, and watched the 4th of July fire works together.You taught me to cook your 
extra special PINTO beans recipe. and I'm 
still cooking them.And that 'special Rice 
from Stensel's.. Yumm..I've shared those with many of our friends. Bob and I were NOT golfers. but we DID share some GREAT BRIDGE sessions as a foursome, and with several tables which included Gen & Mrs. 
Merle Powell, the Kingmans, Grants,Vander Ploegs, the George Allens, among others. 
The Chiminellos,and the Murdays are also remembered. THOSE were such fun and memorable years. Our annual New Year's Eve parties at the Halls..You and Jack joined us on some of our 'fishing weekends at Jesse Pogues at Lake LBJ-sometimes 9 of us,plus my Mom and 'Uncle Francis' in our trailer with an 
added tent for the kids. Edith, you stepped off the dock and INTO the water at the Dam at Inks Lake, and thought you were drowning until Bob told you to put your feet down, The water was only two feet deep there.We DID catch some fish too! You served as surrogate parents for son Tom, when he began classes at Texas A&M as a Cadet in the ROTC.Jack was his idol! We were living in Wash DC at the time. You attended each of our five child dren's weddings. amd remembered EACH of our 12 Grandchildren when they were born.and continued to share an interest in all of their activities and achievements through the years.Jack shared his Bataan Death March experiences with son,Mike, on one of his visits to your home..stories he had never shared with others of us.Mike remembers them well and cherishes that trust and openness; Mike wishes he had had a tape recorder at that time. You and Jack had honored us with your presence when Bob was honored by the Tx Hrt Inst.with the Denton Cooley Award of the Year, and again when Bob was the Medical Honoree at the Houston Heart Ball. We enjoyed your Houston visits and you always welcomed us at your home.We tremendously enjoyed meeting and knowing YOUR family.

Jack's sister, Mary Depmore. We shared a hairdresser. PX and Commissary trips, and mostly just 'talking family and friends' 
Edith, we shared phone visits.hours at a time. We met at brother Dan and wife Louise' home in Mass.during a family trai ler trip to the northeast.YOU & Jack were also visiting Dan & Louise at the time.We 
ate fabulous New England Lobsters and sailed up the coastline, oggling places like the Kennedy Compound at Hyannisport etc.Mike's wife, Beth-always especially admired your exquisite needlework and wished she too,could be as skilled as you 
ME TOO! I could go on..for days of 're membering' and thanking YOU for all the wonderful memories which you and Jack and we made together. Bob and I are deeply stunned by the news of your sudden death. but we take heart in knowing that we will again 'be neighbors' one day because Bob and I have also chosen to be interred at the Ft Sam Houston Natl Cemetery when our time comes to pass on. Meanwhile,we deeply and sincerely share our loss of a VERY SPECIAL LADY..and FRIEND, and our 'sister-relationship' which we cherish. 
We will always remember the special times we shared and enjoyed. Bob and I express our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy to ALL of the Carr and Depmore families. 
Edith.. both YOU and JACK have left a meaningful and resounding impression and legacy for SO MANY of your family and friends. Until we meet again, you will re main in our hearts and memories.In the presence of God now,please DO remember us. It is impossible for us to be at your gravesite and Memorial Serice,to say our 'farewells', but,we will continue to love and remember you, now in the presence of the Almighty God Please DO remember to pray for us. WE LOVE YOU and will MISS YOU,. more than you know. We have a treasure of photos of you and Jack with our family,through the many years of our relationship.

Mrs. Walker was unique. She was this wonderful lady, always dressed to the nines with impeccable manners, whose dry,sharp wit provided me with many a chuckle. She was a dear, dear friend of my mother-in-law who I always felt it quite a privilege to know.
