He served in the Navy as a chief machinist mate on the USS Lexington. After his naval service, Edward worked in civil service at Kelly Field in the special weapons department.
Following his retirement, he loved to garden, fish and feed the deer. Edward enjoyed playing and teaching dominos with anyone who was willing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Marvel Edwin.
He is survived by his daughters, Ethel Burnes, Sylvia Poindexter Tobin and Eileen Ward; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and his favorite dog, Freckles.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
