

Ed Hill, honorably retired Air Force, died at the age of 77 on September 29, 2015 after a long struggle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He was born in Grosvenor, Brown County, Texas to Emma Lou (Brown) Hill (dec) and Virgil Edward Hill (dec).
He served over 23 years in the United States Air Force until his retirement on October, 31 1978. He spent 22 years with the Security Service including working in the National Security Agency (NSA), the Pentagon, Washington D.C., Karamursel, Turkey, Rhein Main, Germany, Danang Air Base, Vietnam, Goodfellow Air Force Base, San Angelo, Texas, Kelly Air Force Base, Texas, Security Hill, San Antonio, Texas, Lackland Air Force Base Annex (Medina), Texas. He was a Telecommunications Operations Supervisor.
He also retired from Air Force Civil Service in 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Barbara Lougenia Johnston, niece Frances Karlene, and stepson Albert Arthur Oster.
He was a member of the Eagles Club for 26 years. We had lots of fun there including fish frys, Christmas, New Years, and Bingo!
He is survived by his wife, Barbara J Hill; daughter Vickie Lynn-Quattrocchi and husband Steve Quattrocchi; granddaughter Amanda Feathers and husband Matthew, grandchildren Ryan Akins, Luke Feathers, William Feathers, and Miranda Feathers; son, James Edward Hill and wife Carol, grandson, Anthony Hill and fiancé Mae Solayao, granddaughters, Amy Martinie and husband Michael, grandchildren, Isabella Elizabeth, Lynnda Diane, Ian Michael, Amethyst Rose, Glenna Alaina, and Thomas Benjamin, Amber Hill, and Shelby Hill; son, Christopher Wayne Hill; stepdaughter, Amy Oster Mills and Juan Cruz, grandchildren Ashley Mills, Jon and Jamie Cruz; nephew, Douglas Burton, and niece, Mitzi Burton.
Grandpa has 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren of whom he loved dearly.
His final request for burial when asked about wearing his glasses was, "Yes, but only for reading."
He was deeply loved and will truly be missed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary on McCullough Ave.
