

Elizabeth McAllister Holland died on January 19, 2007, after long illness.
Betty was born in Dade County, FL, on December 27, 1924, to Jessie and Raymond McAllister. She graduated from nursing school in Morristown, NJ.
Working as a registered nurse in Ithaca, NY, she met and married Herbert S. Holland, Jr., in Ithaca on August 27, 1949. As the wife of an Army officer, Betty lived in many places in the US and Germany.
Once her husband retired from the Army, Betty & Herb lived in Duncan, OK, and in New Braunfels, TX, and in 2004, they relocated to The Towers in San Antonio. Betty devoted her life to being a loving wife and the mother of ten children.
She loved to travel with Herb, and she enjoyed sewing, flowers, and bird watching. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Patricia, her brother, David, and her youngest son, LTC Daniel Holland, who was killed in action in Iraq.
Betty is survived by her husband Herb; son Daniel's widow, Sheryl, Boerne, TX; five daughters and their spouses Patricia Nixon & husband Tom, Oklahoma City; Mary Ralya & husband Steve, Brenham, TX; Claire Nieswiadomy & husband Michael, Denton, TX; Cathy Ochoa & husband Joe, Austin; and Elizabeth Blute & husband Peter, Houston; four sons and their spouses Robert & Carol, Houston; Mark & Josie, Houston; David & MaryAnn, New Braunfels; John & Rita, Coon Rapids, MN; thirty grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and by two brothers Raymond and Peter McAllister.
