

Funeral Service: 2:00 pm, February 1, 2016, at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas 78232. Mrs Smithhart was born on Zumbro Plantation near Cleveland, Mississippi MS, on July 11, 1938, to Wilbur L Poe and Ruth Hood Poe. She graduated from Delta State University with a BA in Education in August of 1959. She taught high school English in Belzoni and Meridian, MS.
Later, Elizabeth became a member of the Naval Officers Wives Club, the United Methodist Church, and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). With two sons in the band, she worked tirelessly with the Mansfield High School Band Parents. She became a realtor for Century 21 (Tarver & Eppes) and a student at Tarrant County Junior College where she pursued her passion as a potter and was a member of the Northeast Campus Association of Potters & Sculptors (NECAPS). She was known for her love of gardening and above all, her devotion to family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Smithhart. She is survived by her sons David Smithhart (Tatiana) and Greg Smithhart; Opal Poe MacLeod; sister, Will Poe; brother, Mary Poe Boteilho; sister, Alex Smithhart; grandson, and Veronica Smithhart; granddaughter.
