

He was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Rosario and Grace Miriello Senia, who both emigrated from Italy.
Steve, with a love of flying and love for his country, joined the U.S. Air Force in 1953. In 1954, he received his Jet Fighter Pilot diploma from the Air Training Command. He later served as a Command Pilot accumulating 5000 flying hours for Military Air Command.
On June 16, 1956, he married the love of his life, Irene Fierros, in San Antonio, Texas. He left the Air Force to pursue his interest in dentistry, earning a D.D.S. degree with honors from Marquette University in 1963. Upon graduation, Dr. Senia re-entered the Air Force and completed a post-graduate residency in 1969 with a Masters Degree at The Ohio State University, specializing in Endodontics.Dr. Senia retired from the Air Force in 1981 as Colonel and Chairman of Endodontics at Wilford Hall Medical Center. Dr. Senia was awarded the Legion of Merit by the Air Force. Following retirement from the Air Force, he became the Director of the Endodontic Postdoctoral Program and a Professor at the University of Texas Dental School at San Antonio until his retirement in 1992.Dr. Senia was a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, served as a member of the Scientific Advisory Panel of the Journal of Endodontics, and consulted for the NASA space program. He lectured extensively around the world and was published in national and international dental journals. He co-invented with Dr. Bill Wildey the LightSpeed root canal instrumentation system. Along with his son, Steven, he became an entrepreneur to make his instrument available across the world thus modernizing root canal treatment. While he had an accomplished career, his family would most want him to be remembered for his devotion to his faith, family, and friends.He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Irene Fierros Senia; son, Steven Senia and wife Susan; sister, Sonia Conklin; grandchildren, Michael Senia and wife Kate, Amy Senia and husband Eli Wald; great-granddaughter, Caroline Grace Senia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.His passing leaves a void that can never be filled in the hearts of his loved ones.

A reception will take place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church after Mass.
Interment will follow reception in Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Road, San Antonio, Texas 78266, where he will be buried next to his parents, Rosario and Grace Miriello Senia; sister, Frances Rau and husband Carl; and brother-in-law, Robert Conklin.
