Eric Thomas Martin, a devoted Christian and adoring father, tragically passed away in a sudden motorcycle accident while doing one of the things he loved most — riding in the Texas Hill Country. His untimely departure has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Eric is survived by his cherished children, Brittani (Mike) Hatfield of Yorkville, Illinois; Alex (Cami) Martin of Valparaiso, Indiana; and JonMarie Martin and Lucas Fisher, whom he shared with his wife of 18 years, Daphne Buquet Martin. He found immense joy in being Pappy to his four grandchildren: Miles Hatfield, Mila Hatfield, Penelope “Penni” Martin, and Madalynn “Maddi” Martin. Eric is also survived by his loving parents, Tommie Sue and Tommy Martin, his sister Sabrina (Kevin) Lindsey, and nephews Keelan Lindsey and Aidan Lindsey, all of Fort Worth, Texas.
Born on July 11, 1970, in Dallas, Texas, Eric shared a passion for building and showing cars with his father, Tommy, during his formative years. This passion translated into a successful career in the automotive industry, where Eric established himself as one of the most gifted "parts" experts in the country, creating his own sophisticated inventory system. At the time of his passing, Eric served as the Parts Manager at Northside Chevrolet in San Antonio.
Guided by the deep love for the Lord instilled by his parents, Eric remained steadfast in his faith throughout his life. For over two decades, he was an active member of Church Unlimited, where he volunteered weekly alongside his daughter JonMarie. His commitment to Christ was unwavering, providing him solace and strength in every aspect of his life. Eric's profound love for Jesus was evident in his willingness to engage in meaningful conversations about scripture, always ready to share the Good News with others.Though known for his reserved nature, Eric possessed an extraordinary talent for public speaking, captivating audiences with his passion for Christ or moving them to tears with heartfelt toasts to friends and family. Beyond his faith and career, Eric had a passion for music that spanned generations, starting with Elvis, influenced by his father, and evolving into a love for hair bands and heavy metal, which he shared with his children.
Eric Thomas Martin will be deeply missed by many, but his legacy, defined by God's gifts of faith, family, and love will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will forever be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
