Ervin A. “Bob” Hempel a World War II veteran passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the age of 91. Born August 11, 1923 in Shiner, Texas, he worked for 45 years as a collision repair technician. He was a 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Bob was always busy working on his crafts and metal Christmas decorations. At Christmas time his front yard was full of his creations.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Kathleen Schulte Hempel; daughter, Shirley Friesenhahn and her husband Elroy; son, Michael Hempel and his wife Merlie; daughter, Beverly Downs; grandsons, Elroy Friesenhahn and his wife Kim, Matthew Friesenhahn his wife Laurie, Joshua Hempel, Jacob Hempel; 5 great grandchildren.
The visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 6:00 P.M. followed by the Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 4535 Lord Rd. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 16, at 10:00 A.M. at the church. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family would like to thank New Century Hospice for their loving care and compassion they extended to Bob and the family.
