March 29, 1944 – March 27, 2025
Felipe Gonzales, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025—just two days before his 81st birthday, and poignantly, on the birthday of a grandchild who adored him. Born and raised in Texas, to his parents Felipe S Gonzales and Otilla Gonzales, Felipe spent his life grounded in love for his family and his favorite California sports teams.
Felipe was a man who wore many hats—protector, storyteller, comedian, and family man. He is remembered most for his fiercely loving and protective spirit. With a joke always at the ready and countless tales of conspiracy theories and alien encounters, he filled every room with laughter. He had a way of making everyone feel safe, seen, and remembered, never hesitating to speak his mind or show his heart, that he wore on his sleeve.
Though Texas was his lifelong home, Felipe’s loyalty ran deep for his California teams. He was a proud and lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Raiders.
He leaves behind three sons—Phillip, Jerry, and Ron Gonzales—who carry forward his strength, warmth, and love for making others laugh. His legacy will live on in his family, in the stories he told and in the love he shared so freely.
Felipe is now reunited with his first wife, Angie Gonzales, who preceded him in passing. Their bond and shared life together are remembered fondly. He also leaves behind his devoted wife, Janet Gonzales, whose love and companionship brought him great joy. Janet will deeply miss Felipe and the life they shared together.
Felipe Gonzales will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace, knowing the world is better for having had him in it.
A visitation for Felipe will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, San Antonio, TX 78211 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Leonard's Catholic Church, 8510 S Zarzamora St, San Antonio, TX 78224 with interment to follow at San Jose Burial Park, 8235 Mission Rd, San Antonio, TX 78214.
