Born in Hagerstown, Maryland on November 18, 1917, Fil served in the Army before moving to Kelly Field in 1941. He married Agnes Nunn in 1942. Fil worked as an accountant for the Air Force at Kelly for 35 years. He may be best remembered for his work with the Combined Federal Campaigns there for many years.
In 1983 Mary Creech joined him to share his final years. He is survived by his wife, Mary Creech; son and family, Fillmore Spangler, III and his wife, Vicki Spangler; daughter, Karen Hall and her husband, Clayton Hall. Grandchildren include: Rodney Spangler, Lori Spangler, Brad Hall, Blaine Hall and Brian Hall. Great-grandchildren include: Brittany Handy, Connor B. Hall, Kayln E. Hall and Dona K. Hall.
