Floyd Wesley Wilson, age 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on October 21, 1949, in Boonville, Missouri, to parents Mamie Elizabeth Buschmeyer and Floyd W. Wilson.
Floyd lived a full and spirited life, never doing anything halfway. His family was his greatest joy and priority. He was fully present for their events, special days, and everyday moments, always ready to offer advice, share a laugh, or simply listen. He was affectionate and never missed a chance to say, “I love you,” hugging his family freely and often.
He honored the dignity of all people and never knew a stranger, offering a simple hello or words of encouragement to brighten someone’s day. He didn’t mind being silly, reveled in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, and was equally proud of family near and far, whether in Missouri or Texas. He worked hard to raise his first family and later worked just as hard as a stay-at-home father, caring for his second. His authority came not from force, but from confidence, kindness, and genuine interest in others.
Floyd had a remarkable gift for working with his hands. A talented woodworker, he could fix or build just about anything with his creative ingenuity. He loved kitchen gadgets, cooking a “mean” meatloaf, and always had a sweet tooth for most candies and pastries especially cherry pie. He was also an athlete at heart—an avid runner and cyclist, a weightlifter, and a softball player well into his forties. He enjoyed friendly games of pool and carried that same competitive but joyful spirit throughout his life. If a common man could become President, Floyd would have been the ideal candidate because he was humble, practical, wise, and deeply caring.
A dog lover all his life, Floyd also had one very special cat whom he loved deeply even as he often complained about him. Those closest to him knew his standard of living: never cut corners, whether in his kitchen, his yard, or his life, work hard, and treat others with respect. His legacy is one of devotion, laughter, ingenuity, resilience, and an unwavering love for his family.
He was strong beyond measure, able to endure much while remaining positive…heaven will be an even brighter and happier place with his arrival.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie Elizabeth Buschmeyer and Floyd W. Wilson; and sisters, Billie Craycraft and Betty Wilson. Floyd is survived by his wife of 28 years, Deloria (Lori) Wilson; sons, Floyd (Toby) Wilson (Kathy), John William Wilson, and Sarek Alexander Wilson; daughter, Sophia Mamie Elizabeth Wilson; sister Mary Reeves (Clyde), former daughter-in-law, Tracy; grandsons, John Wilson, Andrew Wilson, and Austin Wilson; and great-grandson, Bryce Wilson and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Porter Loring Mortuary. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas. Interment will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Rev. Becky Hamann will officiate.
