

Floydell Reed Neugent, extraordinary wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, friend and gifted poet, died Saturday, December 20 at the age of 67, following a courageous battle with cancer, diagnosed October 13, 2003.
Born August 5, 1936, Floydell was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, a Director of the San Antonio Poetry Fair, member of the local Jungian Society and former volunteer with the Hospice San Antonio. In 1977, this mother of five, with two children still in college, she commenced work on a degree in psychology from UTSA.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1987. She founded and moderated a monthly poetry venue, "Awaken the Sleeping Poet," at Northwoods Barnes & Noble. She is founder of Dragonfly Publishing Co., and author of Just a Few Words, a volume of her own poetry.
The study of dreams intrigued Floydell for 12 years, and she recently received certification in dream tending after attending seven workshops at the Pacifica Graduate Institute, Carpinteria, CA. Additionally, she was licensed to administer Myers Briggs personality assessment tests.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Reed and brothers, Clarence Reed and Stanley Reed. Floydell is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dean; sons and daughters-in-love, Bradley and Stephanie Neugent of Dallas, Christopher and Leslie Neugent of Minneapolis, MN; daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Cris Webster of San Angelo, Terry and Tim Ball and Michelle and Scott Cummins, all of San Antonio; mother Ovell Reed of Lubbock; grandchildren, Mrs. Denay Vargas, Ashley and Chase Webster, Ryan and James Jordan Neugent, Cameron and Nolan Cummins, Jason and Jeff Webb and Gia Lomenzo. Floydell was a generous giver of tangible and intangible gifts to family and friends. She was the ultimate giver of gifts as an organ donor.
