He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anita Grijalva, and his brother David Grijalva. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Dolores, his children Frank (Letty) Grijalva and Kathleen (Tony) Flores, and his beloved grandchildren: Allie Grijalva, Nicolas Flores, Mandy Flores, Julie Grijalva, Celeste Grijalva, and Allison Mussey. He is also survived by his cherished twin sister Mary (Oscar) Nash, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Frank graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1959 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science from Trinity University in 1964. In 1982, he earned his Master of Education from Our Lady of the Lake University. He dedicated 33 years of his life to teaching Industrial Arts at Mark Twain Middle School, shaping countless young minds with patience, skill, and compassion. He was honored by the Association of Texas Technology Education for 25 years of distinguished service as a professional educator in Industrial Arts and Industrial Technology Education. In 2011, he was awarded an Honorary Life Membership from the Texas PTA in recognition of his many years of service to children and youth during his retirement.
Frank’s Catholic faith was the foundation of his life. His devotion to the Blessed Mother inspired him to make hundreds of rosaries, which he joyfully gifted to relatives, friends, and those in need. He sent rosaries to a nun in California who brought them to prisons in Tijuana, Mexico—an act of quiet generosity that touched lives far beyond his own community.
A master woodworker and passionate photographer, Frank was the family’s unofficial historian, always carrying his camera and filling albums with treasured memories. His artistry lives on in his woodwork, photographs, and the countless rosaries made with love.
In retirement, Frank and Dolores—both longtime educators—enjoyed the freedom of unhurried days. They cherished simple pleasures: shopping at the mall, meals at their favorite restaurants, and time spent together with their children and grandchildren.
Above all, Frank was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa. His life meant so much to so many and we thank God for all the time he had with us.
