Franklin “Frankie” L. Pace was born in Greenville, South Carolina on January 11, 1959, to Franklin L. Pace and Elizabeth Holden Pace. Frankie passed away on January 29, 2023. He is survived by his loving husband, Charles S. Jones, his 20-year-old black cat, Phoenix, and uncle, Tommie Holden and wife, Sue of Prescott, Arizona. Frankie came to San Antonio in 1979 during Fiesta and stayed. He really liked NIOSA. He loved all types of dance and won trophies for ballroom dancing. He formed his own clogging group, The Texas Sidesteppers, and they performed at gay rodeos in Houston, Dallas, Las Vegas and other locations. He was a member of Cadence Cloggers for many years, taught a number of students and performed at a number of festivals in Texas. He went to Belgium twice with Cadence and really enjoyed performing there. He loved to cook and was a great cook. I will always miss his great pancakes with apple compote on Sunday mornings. He also loved Japanese food. He loved to travel and we took trips to Key West, Jamaica, Los Angeles, California among other places. I love you now, I loved you then, I always have and always will!
