Fred Chavez, age 63, of San Antonio, loving husband, father and grandfather, died Thursday, February 1, 2001. He retired from the United States Air Force as Chief Master Sergeant after 30 years service, and from Kelly AFB after 15 years of service. Mr. Chavez was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, and a founding member of Amigos and Amigas of Harlandale High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Dionecia; and two brothers, George and Daniel. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Hortense Alvarado Chavez; children, Ginger Sepulveda and husband, Juan, Sr., Fred L. and wife, Teresa, Eddie and wife, Debbie, John David and wife, Mary Lou, George and wife, Debra; brother, Jesse Chavez; sisters, Mary Llewellyn, Josie Zertuche, Minnie Ruiz and Teresa Leal; six grandchildren, Miranda, Sara, Marina, Madelyn, Kaylee, John David II, and baby due in July.
