

Frederick “Fred” Rudolph Henry Entzenberger, 93, died peacefully on June 3, 2020, in San Antonio, Texas. Fred was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather with a generous heart, a ready laugh, and an ardent curiosity. He was a devout Lutheran his entire life.
Fred was born on May 31, 1927, in Anderson, IN to Fred H. Entzenberger and Adeline Jenner. The family moved to San Antonio in June of 1931. He graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1944.
He served in the US Army from 1945 to 1947 as a Technician 3rd Grade and was stationed in Germany.
He attended the University of Texas at Austin and was a lifelong Longhorns fan. He served as Vice President of the finance company, Dean & Co., for 36 years.
Fred met Evelyn Dopson in 1949 at a Lutheran Youth Group picnic in Brackenridge Park. The couple married in December 1950 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Redeemer Lutheran Church, and Concordia Lutheran Church their entire lives.
Fred was a competitive bowler for over two decades. He was a knowledgeable collector of coins and stamps. He was an avid reader of the San Antonio Light and Express News, the Wall Street Journal, and numerous periodicals about travel, collecting, and culture.
In his later life, he enjoyed playing chess with his grandchildren, researching genealogy, reading, and listening to classical music. He often met up with his longtime pals for a drink at the local haunt, took long walks through the neighborhood, and completed his daily crossword puzzle.
Fred is survived by Evelyn, his wife of 70 years, and his three children, daughter Becky Cornelius and husband Ray-Mel of Dallas, TX, son Greg Entzenberger and wife Kathy of Houston, TX and son Jim Entzenberger and wife Audrey of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by his four grandchildren Elise, Jonathan, Gretchen and Andrew.
He is preceded in death by Father Fred H. Entzenberger and Mother Adeline Jenner, Sister Virginia Ruth Page and Brother Robert Charles (Bob) Entzenberger.
Fred will be interred in a private ceremony at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with Pastor Doug Bielefeldt officiating.
The family would like to thank Susie Villarreal and her staff especially Veronica, Destiny and Herlinda at Mi Casa Es Su Casa Assisted Living for the wonderful, loving care they provided to Fred (Papa) for the last 19 months.
