Fred was born March 5, 1937, in Riverton, Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Gwen Garcia.
Fred honorably served his country beginning with the National Guard in 1954. In 1956, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his Air Force career, Fred served in the Vietnam War. He was stationed at many air force bases including Korea and England, where he met his loving wife. Upon retirement in 1978 from the United States Air Force, he began his civilian career with the Department of Defense Civil Service and retired from Randolph AFB in 1995. Fred was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting trips to Wyoming. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and above all, his dedication to family and friends.
Fred is survived by his daughters: Vena Driver (Steve), Lu Sokolovich (Larry), Teresa Cruz, and Toni Morrison (Steve); grandchildren: Rheannon Androckitis, Jason Smith, Justin Smith, Megan Morrison and Trent Morrison; and great-grandchildren: Jobe Androckitis, Braxton Smith, Brooklyn Smith, Arianna Smith and Mason Smith.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 8:00 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2019, at Sunset Funeral Home. An interment service with full military honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
