Frederick "Mac" McDermott

Mac was born in Albany, NY to Frederick McDermott and Beatrice Smith on 2/26/1942. He attended school in Pittsburgh where he built the foundation for the disciplined and compassionate man he became. Mac married the love of his life Janey Martinez on 12/25/2002 in a joyful ceremony in Las Vegas. He is graduated from Wayland Baptist University of San Antonio. Mac proudly worked as a Detective with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department for 18 years. He also served his country in the United States Air force for 24 years. Mac was in the USAF Band of The West where he enjoyed playing the trombone. He found peace on the golf course and joy in playing the trombone.

Mac is survived by his children Melanie Lance and (husband) Michael Lance, (preceded in death) Kevin “Bo” McDermott and (survived by wife) Valerie McDermott, Grandchildren Shelby Meninno, Taylir Hahn, Ashley Watson, Danny Flores, Brett McDermott, Samantha Flores, and Brylee McDermott. and Great grandchildren Morgandy, Braelyn, Ryleigh, and Haisley.

The Visitation will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on August 7th, 2025, at 6:00 PM and services will start at 7:00 PM.
