Gay Scott Young

Blessed with 80 years of life, Martha Gay Scott Young, entered into eternal peace with her Lord on May 11, 2021. Gay was born in San Antonio, Texas, on December 13, 1940 to Marguerite and Arvin Scott. She attended Alamo Heights High School, Sophie Newcomb College and graduated from the University of Texas @ Austin with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism. She enjoyed membership in Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Gay was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. In 1984 she returned from Houston to the University of Texas @ Austin and created a new successful life. She received a Masters Degree in Accounting and earned her CPA while working at Mary Lee Foundation. She was later employed by the State of Texas until her retirement. Gay developed a strong independent character early in life and brought that spirit to her career. While she enjoyed living in Texas, she relished traveling stateside and overseas with trips to Egypt, South Africa, Alaska, Ireland and numerous countries in Europe. Her fondness for animals and nature was notorious. Numerous homeless cats and dogs found their way to Gay's house for care and nurture. Many treasured memories of Gay will be cherished by her lifetime friends.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 3rd at 11:30 am at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel; 1701 Austin Hwy, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
