George Jarboe

Mr. George Garry Jarboe, age 77, died on Monday, April 2, 2007, at home with the support of Hospice.

Mr. Jarboe was born at Ranger, Texas, on December 24, 1929, to James Aloysius Jarboe, II and Dorothy Knight Taggart Jarboe.

He graduated from Rice University in 1951 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and received a Commission as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. He served as a Navy fighter pilot during the Korean War obtaining the rank of Lieutenant. Following his Navy service, he was employed as a professional civil engineer and participated in engineering projects around the world.

His group built the Alaskan pipeline. He figured the trajectory for launching oil drilling platforms in the North Sea, oversaw oil well drilling in Dubai, built docks in Rio, and bridges between Mexican provinces while enjoying traveling.

He is survived by his son, Russell Kerr Jarboe; his brother, James Aloysius Jarboe, III, and his wife Jacqueline; his sisters, Marjory Joan Jarboe Roth and her husband, Thomas, and Dorothy Maud Jarboe DeKraker and her husband Dave. His beloved wife, Patsy Jo Hockaday Jarboe, died in 2002.

He was most proud of the museum quality miniature doll house built by the two of them which he donated to The Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, Texas, where it is on display.

Being from a pioneering Texas family, he leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins across the state of Texas.
