

George Wilbur Parr, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on January 20, 1937, to Josephine and Ray Dean Parr, George's warmth and humor brought joy to all who knew him.
George lived a life marked by service and dedication. He honored his country by serving in the U.S. Army, eventually retiring as a Sergeant Major (SGM). Following retirement from the military; he completed his degree in Information Technology Administration, then worked in the IT department at USAA, where his leadership and work ethic were admired by his colleagues.
Throughout his life, George was a beacon of love and kindness. His second wife, Norma Navalta Parr, and his third wife, Norma Estep Parr, both preceded him in death, as did his parents and brothers, Ray Parr and C.C. Parr. His legacy is carried on by his loving family: his children, Sherry Lynn Lewis, George Wilbur Parr, Jr., and Ray Dean Parr III; his stepson, Jason Keoni Rose; and his brothers, Frank Parr and Tom Parr. George's laughter and stories will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, who were a source of immense pride and joy for him. George's life was enriched by his friendship with Blanca Espinoza and Larry Washington, who assisted and cared for him for many years.
Described by those who knew him as loving, kind, and funny, George had the rare gift of making others feel at ease with his quick wit and gentle spirit. His laughter was infectious, and his sense of humor brought light to even the most ordinary moments. His love for his family, his unwavering sense of duty, and his ability to see the humor in life's challenges were qualities that endeared him to many.
George’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who carry his memory forward.
