George Wallace graduated from the U. S. Military Academy on 05 June 1945 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Regular Army. Later military and civilian schooling included the Command and General Staff College ('57), the Army War College (master's degree, international relations, George Washington University, '66) and master's degrees in both human relations and hospital administration from Webster University following his retirement from active duty.
General Wallace's military awards and decorations include: Combat Infantryman Badge, Purple Heart (2 awards), Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal for Valor, Bronze Star Medal for Achievement (2 awards), Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal (17 awards), Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit (4 awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal and Army Commendation Medal (4 awards).
General Wallace retired from active duty in 1981 and was instrumental in the founding and construction of the Army Residence Community (ARC). He served as oard Chairman of the ARC Foundation from 1993 until 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Beverley Bender Wallace; his oldest daughter "JB" Wallace; identical twin daughters, Jordan Wallace Stadig and Anne Wallace Muntz; and sons-in-law Bryan Stadig and Steven Muntz as well as four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
