

Gerald attended college at Texas Lutheran University and North Texas State University where he graduated with his BBA in accounting in 1981. Gerald worked as a federal bank examiner for many years with the OCC. He visited many banks in the southeast region of the United States. He was an active member of his church, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in San Antonio, as well as acting Grand Knight with their Knights of Columbus at the time of his passing.
Gerald was predeceased by his wife, Becky Diane Janysek, who sadly passed in 2008; his parents, Leo and Bernice Janysek; and his sister, Kathleen Pawelek (Marcus Pawelek).
Gerald is survived by his two daughters, Sydney Diane Janysek and Shelby Lee Janysek; brothers and sisters, Janice Heubaum, Leo Janysek Jr. (Brenda Janysek), Carolyn Fox (Raymond Fox), Arlene Booth (Chris Booth), Mark Janysek (Nancy Janysek), and Frances Berthold; nieces and nephews, RayAnn Pawelek Mahler, Katie Pawelek, Jeffery Heubaum, Cody Heubaum, Angela Fox, Jeremy Fox, Taylor Fox, Troy Booth, Jacob Booth, Caleb Janysek, Colton Janysek, Hailey Janysek, Cory Janysek, Derek Berthold, Jamie Berthold, and Dustin Berthold; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A visitation for Gerald will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with Rosary from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232.
A funeral mass will occur Friday, May 31, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4201 De Zavala Rd, San Antonio, TX 78249.
Gerald will be laid to rest on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Rest Haven Memorial Park-Rockwall,TX near his wife Becky.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or The EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases. Both of these charities have a special meaning to the family.
